Introduced to 2touch pre- their debut, I was instantly drawn to their sound. A few months on, I'm sat skimping a desk at my friend's co-working space - low and behold the same song I had on repeat through a DISCO link earlier in the year was blaring on the communal speaker.
It’s not often you meet an electronic duo as down-to-earth as 2touch—let alone one whose music is already making waves at SXSW, Vivid Sydney, and beyond. But that’s exactly what makes them so compelling. 2touch are just kicking around for a giggle and a good time on the dance floor.
Who are 2touch?
Born out of friendship and a shared love for making music with feeling, 2touch’s story is one of organic evolution. The pair met back in high school while living in the Blue Mountains and have since dived headfirst into the Eora scene, bringing with them a genuine sense of play and discovery.
“We want to focus on what makes us excited,” they say. “We try not to put a lot of thought into genre and just follow our gut. We both love pop music too, so at some level I’m sure that seeps into the tracks. If we’re giggling or running away from the laptop as we’re making it, we’re heading in the right direction.”
Their sonic world moves between garage, techno, house, and post-dubstep, always with a playful, slightly off-kilter energy. Vocal samples are treated like instruments—warped, layered, and reimagined. “We usually treat vocal samples as another instrument, seeing what melodies and rhythms we can chop up. Stretching on transient cuts in Ableton’s Warp, layering and using effects that add abrasion can help us make the samples feel more lively,” they explain—though they’re quick to add, “but that’s not a prescription.”

Shug: Sound On, Connection On
Listeners often describe Shug, their debut EP, as soaked in nostalgia and youthfulness—but that wasn’t the intention. “For us, it’s important that the project isn’t forced—it is what it is. If people take away nostalgia and youthfulness, that’s great. But really, it’s about connection. If we’re creatively effective, then hopefully people will feel something and have their own takeaway.”
That authenticity extends into the visual universe surrounding Shug—a surreal, instinctive world anchored by a large pink, furry character named Shug, who threads through the EP’s artworks. “I’ve been watching a lot of David Lynch lately,” one of them tells us. “I really enjoy how emotion is translated, but the story stays subjective. Shug has a set journey through the artworks, but I’d rather leave it up to interpretation. It’s also sweet if it just looks cool as well, hey.”
Even with their relaxed approach, the visuals are deeply considered. Each artwork reflects the emotional essence of its track: the yearning of Want2, the isolation of Silver, the intimacy of Shug. “The sound is first and foremost, so the visuals will always be defined by the tracks,” they explain. “The colours and composition were all meant to serve those themes.” Huge shoutout to Major Precious, who brought the visual world to life, and Kazkom, who created the hypnotic Shug visualiser—“she also killed it.”

Less Chaos… More Community…
At the heart of 2touch’s project is a belief in music as connection. “We see music as a catalyst for moments of collective effervescence. Some of the most unique and powerful experiences for both of us have been through music—either from records or being at shows.”
That doesn’t mean overthinking it. “It’s fleeting, sure—but maybe that’s the beauty of it,” they say. “When it comes to 2touch, it’s incredibly important for us to not over-intellectualise the art. We want to connect with people through creativity and emotion.”
Their process is rooted in the DIY spirit of Sydney’s inner-city sharehouse scene. “A lot of it is done out of necessity, but it’s taught us a lot,” they reflect. That blend of grit, humour, and honesty is what gives 2touch their edge.

Momentum & Instinct
In just over a year, 2touch have racked up over 228k Spotify streams, more than 5k Shazams, and built a live show that’s quickly becoming one of the most refreshing on the circuit. “We definitely didn’t expect this kind of response,” they admit. “The most unexpected part? Just how many people actually connect with what we’re doing.”
We hear 2touch have a new EP in the works, we suggest getting familiar with them now because you certainly won't want to miss what's coming next.
